On March 9th, 2024, one civilian was killed and two civilians were injured in an alleged shooting by the Turkish-affiliated militias in the village of Maranaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo, Syria.

According to the activists of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the victims of the shooting initially crossed the entrance checkpoint to the city of Azaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo, with the aim of entering the city, but the checkpoint refused them entry and forced them to return to the village of Kafr Janna in the Sharan countryside in Afrin. Accordingly, they “took another dirt road in an area near the village of Al-Mazraa, and upon arriving at a point near the village of Maranaz, they were targeted with direct bullets by members of the “Peace Brigade” loyal to Ankara,” also referring to their association with the Syrian National Army, reported the SOHR.

There was no further information on the identities, gender and age of the victims.
