Louijain Othman Dashu, an 11-year-old girl, was injured during the evening of April 25th, 2024 due to an alleged Turkish bombing in Aoun Al-Dadat village in the countryside of Manbij province, Syria. At the time of the report, the child was declared stable.
According to Hawar News, artillery shrapnel injured Louijain Othman Dashu in her abdomen. The child was transported to the specialized hospital in Manbij, where she underwent surgery and received treatment.
Othman Muhammad Al-Sheikh, the father of 11-year-old Louijain Othman Dashu, recounted to the Hawar News the moments during the artillery attack that led to his daughter’s injury: “I was not present in the house during the bombing, when I heard the sound of the cannons, I took refuge with my friends within the walls of the house,” he said. During this time, he maintained contact with his family via mobile phones. “They told me that my daughter had been injured in the attack” Al-Sheikh explained. Concerned for his daughter’s safety and wary of further targeting, he said, “I was afraid that the Turkish occupation army would target our car if we took her to the city.”
Despite the risks, Al-Sheikh made the critical decision to seek medical help. “However, I decided to treat her,” he stated. “Now her health condition is stable,” he confirmed.
Hawar News also shared an image from a hospital where Othman is seen sitting near his daughter’s bed.
The Manbij Military Council released details on its official website regarding the bombardment that struck the village: “The Turkish…. army and its mercenaries renewed their bombing of the populated villages of Manbij in the late night hours, and the bombing focused on two houses in the village of Aoun al-Dadat, north of the city.” They also mentioned the injury of the 11-year-old child and material damage to two houses.
According to Ronahi news, the Manbij countryside, where the artillery bombing occurred, hosted displaced people from the Afrin region.
Where sources attributed responsibility for the strike, all identified the Turkish military as the belligerent.
