Airwars assessment

On Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, one civilian was reportedly injured as a result of an alleged Turkish artillery shelling in the Manbij countryside, to the east of Aleppo, Syria. The village of Umm Jaloud and the surrounding area were struck by mortar shells allegedly coming from the Turkish military base in the village of Al-Yashli.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that a citizen was injured as a result of artillery shelling allegedly carried out by Turkish forces, whilst the Manbij Military Council further reported that the injured civilian had been “subsequently transferred to hospitals in the city of Manbij for treatment.” At the time of writing, there was no additional information provided by any news or social media sources regarding the injured civilian.

Hawar News reported that the media center of the Manbij Military Council documented over 13 mortar shells as falling over the villages of Umm Jaloud and Al-Sayadah. SORH indicated that “Turkish forces stationed at a military base in the village of Al-Yashli in the Manbij countryside within the “Euphrates Shield” bombed with artillery.” North Press Agency, on their website and Facebook, also reported that the shelling originated from Turkish forces and provided two images showing clouds of smoke from explosions.

A member of the Syrian regime forces was also reportedly injured as a result of the shelling.
