At least two children were killed and a young woman and young man were injured by alleged Turkish shelling of the village of al-Jammas in the countryside of Ain Issa in Syria on January 26, 2025.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) initially reported that a 12-year-old girl had been killed and a child and young man in his 20s had been injured by Turkish artillery shelling which struck the village of al-Jammas and later added that a six-month-old child had died of their wounds in the attack. Hawar News also reported on the bombing of the village, naming six-month-old infant Abdul Rahman Ismail Hussein as the child that died in the hospital from their wounds and naming two civilians who were wounded: Arej Khaled al-Hussein, 20 years old and Asia Hamad al-Hussein, 12 years old. The Hawar News article included a graphic image of an infant receiving oxygen and covered in blood, likely Abdul Rahman.

North Press Agency reported on January 27th that Asia Hamad had died of her injuries as well, corresponding with SOHR’s reporting. The same article mentioned that Abdul Rahman had died on the way to the hospital and that Arej was transferred to “Raqqa hospitals”.

According to Ain Issa Press, “women and children” were among those injured. North Press Agency quoted a local sources as saying that the shelling resulted in the complete destruction of the family’s home in the village.

Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attacks to the Turkish military and/or the Turkish backed “National Army”.
