At 10:00 a.m. local time, on February 14, 2025, an elderly woman, Rahima Sabri (aged 65–80), was killed, and her two sons, Nasr al-Din Hassan Sabri and Ahmed Hassan Sabri, were injured when Turkish forces and allied Syrian factions allegedly shelled their home in al-Zaydiyah village, in the countryside of Zarkan (Abu Rasin), north of Hasakah, Syria.
Local reports indicated that the attack occurred around 10:00 a.m. local time, when multiple shells struck al-Zaydiyah as well as the nearby villages of al-Dalawiyya and Shour. The injured sons were transported to hospitals in Darbasiyah for treatment, with their wounds described as minor. Arta FM noted that the family home and another house in the village sustained significant damage.
Jintv-ar posted a blurred image of the dead body of Rahima lying on a hospital bed and another blurred image of her son, a middle-aged man with blood on his cheek.
At least eight sources, including North Press Agency, Arta FM, JIN TV, ANF, Ronahi TV, Roj News, Hawar News, and SOHR, corroborated the civilian harm. All outlets that attributed responsibility blamed Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian factions, often referred to as “mercenaries.”
