Local sources reported that 15 people were killed when an airstrike targeted the surrounding area of the Zaid Ibn Thabit mosque (زيد بن ثابت) in Al Shaafa. Most victims were reportedly women and children.

All sources blamed the Coalition, although one source, Mena Monitor News, reported that the Coalition and SDF were responsible for the attack.

Another source, reported that the victims were killed as a result of “Coalition shelling”, in which case the Coalition alone would have been responsible.

Reports of the incident mention the village of Al Shaafa: vicinity of Zaid Ibn Thabit mosque (الشعفة زيد بن ثابت), for which the generic coordinates are: 34.57888, 40.93441. Due to limited satellite imagery and information available to Airwars, we were unable to verify the location further.

For December 13th, the Coalition reported: "On Dec. 13 in Syria, Coalition military forces conducted 32 strikes consisting of 57 engagements against ISIS targets. Near Hajin, 32 strikes [at least 3 British] destroyed 26 fighting positions, 11 staging areas, five supply routes, one petroleum oil and lubricant storage facility, and one piece of heavy equipment, suppressed one mortar firing position and damaged one fighting position."

For 12th-18th Dec, Dutch F16s supported ground troops in 9 missions; weapons were deployed in 8 in Abu Kamal. Attacks were carried out on vehicles, logistics warehouses and ISIS fighters. Dutch F16s will fly until Dec 31st when the mandate for Dutch participation ends.
UK Military Strike Report
Thursday 13 December – Tornados and Typhoons supported the Syrian Democratic Forces clearing terrorists from Hajin, striking nine Daesh positions...Tornado and Typhoon flights provided close air support to the SDF as they fought to clear Daesh from areas of eastern and southern Hajin on Thursday 13 December. Very close coordination was required between our aircraft and the SDF since the latter were engaged in close-range combat with the terrorists; two attacks by the Typhoons accounted for five Daesh defensive positions, whilst three attacks by the Tornados dealt with a further four terrorist strongpoints.
