On Thursday, March 26, 2026 an Indian national and a Pakistani national were killed, and three other civilians injured – an Indian national, a Jordanian national, and an Emirati national – by debris following the alleged interception of an Iranian missile on Sweihan Street in the in the northeastern part of the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. Several vehicles were also damaged.
On Twitter/X, @quds reported the incident at 8:07 a.m., referring to an Abu Dhabi Media Office claim about two deaths and three injuries resulting from falling debris. The UAE Ministry of Health reported the nationalities of the victims, claiming that the two fatalities were Indian and Pakistani, while civilians who had been injured were from Jordan and the UAE. Later the Abu Dhabi Media Office also reported that an Indian national was among the injured, and that the injuries of three individuals ranged from moderate to serious.
According to Pakistan Today, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi said it was coordinating with UAE authorities to support the family and facilitate repatriation of the deceased.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced, “The competent authorities in the emirate dealt with an incident resulting from the fall of shrapnel on Sweihan Street following the successful interception of a ballistic missile by air defenses.” UAE officials said the debris resulted from successful interception efforts as the United Arab Emirates responded to missile and drone threats from Iran.” News outlet Jist indicated in a Facebook post that “an Indian national was killed in Abu Dhabi after falling debris from a ballistic missile intercepted by UAE air defence systems struck the city amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, the Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed” and also mentioned that “officials said the debris resulted from successful interception efforts as the United Arab Emirates responded to missile and drone threats from Iran.”
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the missile strike to the Iranian military. However, as the air defenses of the United Arab Emirates were involved in the missile’s interception, the debris resulting in the civilian harm could have also originated from the air defense missile. Therefore, Airwars has graded the civilian harm status of the incident as “contested.”
