On the morning of March 1, 2026, an Israeli woman and her son were injured following an alleged Iranian drone attack on one of the Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Some sources described the incident as an Iranian drone strike, while others reported that it was the result of falling debris from a drone that was intercepted by air defences.
Shortly after the attack, the Abu Dhabi Media Office announced that “authorities in Abu Dhabi are investigating an incident involving debris from a drone that was intercepted by air defences and struck the facade of one of the Etihad Towers buildings. The incident resulted in minor injuries to a woman and her child, as well as minor property damage.” Al Jazeera, Al Jadeed News and others quoted the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, stating “a drone strike targeted a building housing Israelis near one of our mission centres in Abu Dhabi, resulting in injuries to some of them.” According to Al Araby, “the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that two Israelis were injured by shrapnel from an Iranian drone strike on a building in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. The newspaper stated that an Israeli woman and her son were injured, but did not specify the nature of their injuries or the full extent of the damage.”
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the drone attack to the Iranian military. The belligerent responsible for the interception was not identified in the sources, and therefore has been listed as “unknown”. As it is unclear whether the resulting harm should be attributed to the original drone or interception, the strike status has been recorded as ‘contested’.
