On the evening of Wednesday, 27th December 2023, a ground bombardment allegedly carried out by Turkish forces in the center of the town of Ain Issa in the northern countryside of Raqqa, Syria, injured a 16-year-old girl named Kholoud Al-Mustafa.
According to North Press Agency, she was hit in the foot by shrapnel from a 23-caliber machine gun while she and her family were trying to leave the house in an attempt to get away from the targeted area. A medical source from Raqqa National Hospital added that the bullet fragment caused three tendons in the girl’s right foot to be cut but that her health condition became stable after surgery.
Rojava Activists Network shared an image of Kholoud – a girl in a brown dress and yellow hijab sitting on a wheelchair with her leg in a bandage.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all the sources attributed the responsibility for the attack to the Turkish military.
