Airwars assessment
Shortly before 11:45 AM on Sunday, October 29, 2023, between 10 and 18 people, including a man and a young boy, were killed and a large number of civilians, including women and at least five children, were injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike on the Muharram family home in the al-Faluja area of the Jabalia refugee camp near the Al Itisalat (communications) Tower. One of the people killed has been named as Muhammad Hassan Sardah (age unavailable). The names of the additional casualties were not found among local sources. This assessment will be updated if more information on the victims emerges.
On the day of the alleged strike, Al Jazeera Egypt and @ShehabAgency quoted the Gaza Ministry of Interior, reporting “10 martyrs and a large number of injured in an Israeli bombing on the house of the Muharram family, west of the Jabalia camp.” The same day, Ramzi Muharram gave an update saying that the number of those killed increased to 18, along with a large number of injured.
Multiple sources shared images of casualties of the alleged strike being treated at the Indonesian Hospital. A graphic video shared by Omaima Muhammad Ezz showed about six people, including a woman and multiple children, arriving in an ambulance. They were all covered in dust and wearing bandages. Though some of the injured people were able to walk on their own, at least two patients appeared to be gravely injured (with signs of major blood loss) and were rushed into the hospital on stretchers. Later in the video, a young child is seen screamed in agony on a hospital bed while doctors treated a woman’s head wound nearby.
Graphic photos shared by East Now News Agency also showed a number of casualties – some with severe injuries and a man apparently dead – from the alleged Israeli strike on the Muharram home.
A video posted by Khoroto Republic showed a father hugging and kissing the body of a male child who was killed in the strike. Another child approached the body on the stretcher and began sobbing and hugging it. Photos shared to Facebook by Hend Alsabagh showed numerous children covered in blood, dust and bandages, as well as adults who were severely injured (or possibly killed).
So far, one victim has been named: Muhammad Hassan Sardah. On Facebook, an account for the city of Jabalia Al-Thawra announced “The martyrdom of Muhammad Hassan Sardah in the bombing that targeted Muharram’s family in the al-Faluga area.” Sardah’s relative, Monir Sardah, posted that “my nephew’s son, Muhammad Hassan Mahmoud Sardah, is a martyr, God willing. May God have mercy on him and grant him the highest paradise in Paradise.”
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike was attributed to Israeli forces.
The incident occured in the morning.
The victims were named as:
