Airwars Assessment
On October 29th 2023, artillery shelling allegedly carried out by the Israeli military forces led to civilian casualties, including the death of one woman and other “injuries”, east of Deir Al Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
Posts on social media mourned Maryam Abu Mughaseeb, the only confirmed fatality. These posts honoured her memory and expressed grief over her passing, including a post by Suzanne Hamed, who identified herself as Maryam’s niece and offered prayers for her aunt.
Though “injuries” were reported, the exact number is unknown, as are other identifying features, including names.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the incident to Israeli forces.
