At least 11 civilians were reportedly killed and 15 others were injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike on the Suwaidan family home in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp on Friday, 27th of October, 2023.

43-year-old Hani Jamal Suwaidan was killed, along with his son 17-year-old Muhannad Hani Suwaidan and his brothers 31-year-old Mahmoud Jamal Suwaidan, 36-year-old Muhammad Jamal Suwaidan, and Muhannad Jamal Suwaidan. Two other members of the Suwaidan family, 11-year-old Alma Majed Suwaidan and Rawan Ayman Suwaidan, were both killed.

A post from Yasser Youssef expressed “what a heartache” at the loss of “beloved brother and respected colleague” Hani, his son Muhannad, and his brother Mahmoud, along with images of Hani and Mahmoud. Riham al-Muqdassiye offered “my sincere condolences and sympathy” to their uncle Abu Hani on the loss of his sons Hani, Muhammad, Mahmoud, and Muhannad. Hanooda [Jamal], identified as a sister of Hani, Muhammad, Mahmoud, and Muhannad, wrote that “Our warm home is gone, and the people dearest to my heart are gone with it” along with an image of what appear to be the four brother.

48-year-old Hani Abdel Karim Wahba, his wife Marwa Rabie Rabah Ismail Ali Hassouna, and their sons 11-year-old Omar Hani Wahba and 18-year-old Abdel Rahman Hani Wahba, were among those killed.

A Facebook post from Yahya Ali offered condolences to “Professor Hani Wahba (Abu Ahmed), his wife, and his sons, Abdel Rahman and Omar”, along with images of Hani, Abdel Rahman and Omar. A post from Yasser Youssef referred to Professor Hani as an “Educator of generations”. Osama Wahba and Mona Saeed both mourned the loss of their uncle Hani and his family. Ayyoub Hassouna, a sibling of Marwa, posted a condolence message along with information to pay respects to the family: “Congratulations will be received for men for one day at the Beitunia Club after the afternoon prayer…And for women at the home of her father Hajj Rabie Hassouna.”

Multiple sources, including the Nuseirat community Facebook page and Shehab News Agency which cited the Gaza Ministry of the Interior, reported that at least five people had been killed in the strike. Al Jazeera placed the death toll higher, reporting that eight had been killed by airstrikes on the Nuiserat camp.

Meanwhile, numerous sources, including the Shehab News Agency, citing Gaza Ministry of the Interior figures, reported that 15 people had been injured in addition to 5 deaths.

A Facebook post from Ali Al-Ariqi described “An entire residential square was destroyed” along with a video of multiple buildings collapsed to the ground and civilians searching through the rubble.

According to @PalinfoAr, the home of Abu Hani Suwaidan which was struck in the attack was located in Camp 2 near Al-Shaqqaqi Mosque while Journalist safinaz al-loh identified the location as opposite Khaled School in Nuseirat.

Where possible, names have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023 the MoH has released six lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 15, 2024. In regard to this incident, names are matched to the sixth Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza list, which was released on January 7, 2024. At least one of the names appears in the MoH list released on October 26, 2023, making it possible that this incident occurred on the 26th rather than the 27th.

Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
