Airwars assessment
In a previously unknown casualty event, CENTCOM confirmed on April 22nd 2016 that one civilian was killed during a US airstrike at Ramadi.
According to the official release, “On Nov. 12, 2015, in Ramadi, Iraq, during a strike targeting ISIL fighters, it is assessed that one civilian was killed.”
There were no reports of civilian casualties at the time, though Iraqi Special Forces filmed US strikes on the city that day. A tweet also noted that “In a battle for Ramadi today aircraft bombed a number of nests of Daesh rats in a collaboration between ourselves and the Coalition.”
In July 2019, the Coalition provided Airwars with the location of this incident, accurate to within a 100 metre box.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
