Local sources reported that one civilian died and up to 30 civilians were still under the rubble in July 17 neighbourhood. Most sources do not say who was responsible – but one said it was the work of the Coalition.
Omar Al Halbusi reported on Facebook that Al-Mutasim Abdelmohsen Al-Bagari is still under the rubble, and that he and thirty other members of his family are in the neighborhood of July 17, after Coalition forces hit his house.
Ninawa Media Center reported (a call shared by Riad Al Samare and Sawlf Ateka on Facebook):”The family of Professor Moatasem (Professor at the University of Mosul, College of Computer Science and Mathematics) and other families with him are in the house, estimated 30 persons under the rubble and still alive, they are crying out to get out of the rubble as soon as possible. Location: July 17 neighborhood near the Mufti Mosque, the street in front of the clinic.”
In a later post, Sawlf Ateka Facebook group said that the security forces had rescued the family from under the rubble and “everyone was safe.”
However, two days after the alleged airstrikes in July 17 neighbourhood, the group reported the death of retired Brigadier General Muayad Yousef Hamid Al-Fahadi who was allegedly killed in shelling on his home in the neighbourhood.
The same was reported by his brother, Mohammed Yousef, who said that Muayad was killed in an airstrike. A nephew also reported the news: “With profound sadness I received the news of the death of my uncle, the retired Brigadier General Moayyed Yousef Al-Fahadi, whose house was bombed in Mosul on July 17, and I ask you to pray for him in his first night (..).”

For May 15th-16th the Coalition publicly reported: “Near Mosul, five strikes engaged four ISIS tactical units; destroyed nine fighting positions, two mortar systems, to medium machine guns, two VBIEDs, two ISIS-held buildings, two VBIED facilities, and a supply cache; damaged 13 ISIS supply routes and nine fighting positions; and suppressed three ISIS tactical units and two mortar teams.”
