Airwars assessment

Between one and five civilians, including a woman and two children, were killed and between four and eight others, including women and children, were wounded in alleged Russian or regime airstrikes against the town of Jisr al Shoughour in the western suburbs of Idlib, local media reported.

At the time of reporting one civilian death, Radio Al Kul pointed out that they expected the number of casualties to rise because civil defense teams were still searching the rubble. After seven hours of searching, Shaam Network said that the final count of those killed in the airstrikes was five civilians.

Local sources gave conflicting reports as to who was responsible for the airstrikes against Jisr al Shoughour. The majority of sources, including Idlib Media Centre and the Syrian Network for Human Rights, attributed the airstrikes to Russia planes. However, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Syrian Mirror reported that regime planes carried out the attacks against Jisr al Shoughour and its surrounding areas.

Between 10 and 16 missiles and cluster bombs struck the neighborhoods of Jisr al Shoughour, completing their strikes in less than an hour. These strikes were part of an alleged almost daily air campaign against the city that had been escalating in recent days. Following the strikes, civilians were displaced from their homes and some were forced to flee the town.

The local time of the incident is unknown.
