Airwars assessment

15 civilians including one woman and nine children were killed in alleged Russian airstrikes on Al Baghiliya, according to local sources.

The Shaam News Network blamed Russia for the strikes, reporting: “Activists have denied the news published by Assad’s media that IS had committed a massacre against civilians in Al Baghiliya district.  The regime said that IS killed 280 civilians. Activists noted that civilian victims, numbering around 15, fell in the area as a result of Russian strikes.

Deir Ezzor is Being Slaughtered Silently reported 15 civilians were killed in Russian strikes when Daesh took control of most of Al Baghiliya, and that they had executed “several of the miilitia of the civil defence and arrests others“, adding that members of Daesh had taken “civilian homes as bases for themselves“, which were then bombed “violently” by Russian warplanes.

Airwars assessment

Two civilians were reported killed in an alleged Russian airstrike on Hayyan, according to the Shaam News Network.

SNN said that 10 civilians were killed in airstrikes on the cities and towns of the northern countryside of Aleppo since Saturday morning: four in Ma’arsta al-Khan, two in Hayyan, two in Tal Rifaat and two in Tamoura, in addition to dozens wounded.

The White Helmets published a video showing their teams rescuing victims “after Russian raids“, but did not provide any further information.

Alburaq Media Institution also posted a video showing the aftermath of what they said was a Russian strike. Testimony on camera says: “The Russian warplanes targeted the town of Hayyan which resulted in two deaths, a man and a woman, and as you can see here the targets were civilian homes, there is no presence of Daesh or FSA here, only civilians.”

Aleppo Media Centre and Tel Rifaat@Reefhalab also alleged that Russia was responsible.

These victims were also named by Mare’e Media Office and @abualghorabaa, though neither source said who was responsible for the “shelling“.

They were also named by Damascus Center for Human Rights, but they said that they were killed by “indiscriminate shelling of the Russian airline“.

Airwars assessment

26 civilians including seven children and two to three women were killed – and up to 100 others injured – in airstrikes on Sarmada according to multiple sources.

Shaam News reported on three incidents on Idlib on the same day (Maarat Al Numan, Saraqib, Sarmada), and said 13 non-combatants were killed and dozens injured in two strikes by Russian warplanes in Sarmada.

Al Hall said Russian planes bombed the town with high-explosive rockets, killing 20 civilians (including women and children) and wounding dozens more, who were transferred to Turkish hospitals.

Al Khaleej put the death toll higher at 25 with nearly 100 wounded, many critically. Al Jazeera also blamed Russia (putting the number killed at 15), but the White Helmets only referred to attacks being carried out by “warplanes” and did not say who they belonged to. They said 27 civilians were killed, with 52 wounded.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights published several brief reports in which it at first said the Assad regime was responsible for killing up to 22 including seven children and three women. But in a detailed later report it stated that Russian warplanes had killed 25 people (including five children and three women) in Sarmada.
