In an incident not previously tracked by Airwars, the Coalition later confirmed the death of one civilian during a strike in Mosul.
The April 30th 2017 release noted: “Feb. 22, 2017, near Mosul, Iraq, via self-report: During a strike on ISIS fighters in a moving vehicle, it was assessed that one civilian was unintentionally killed when he entered the target area after the munition was released.”
A senior official provided the following coordinates for the event – 36°21’42.1″N 43°04’32.8″E, accurate to within a one metre box – which correspond to an area south west of the July 17th neighbourhood.

For February 21st – 22nd, the Coalition reported: “Near Mosul, four strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units; destroyed three mortar systems, three vehicles, two IEDs, two command and control nodes, a supply cache, an artillery system, a front-end loader, an excavator, a tactical vehicle and a medium machine gun; damaged 13 supply routes and a tunnel; and suppressed 13 mortar teams and an artillery team.“
