Airwars assessment
On Tuesday, 24 September 2024, three civilians from the Mishik family, including a woman, were killed as a result of an alleged Israeli airstrike on the Mishik family home located in the Mazraat al-Jamal area in the Bekaa region, Lebanon.
Sources including Lebanon News and Aljadeed.tv confirmed the deaths of three civilians at the Al-Jamal location in the Bekaa. Enaam Hassan Qasim Mishik was killed alongside her husband Suleiman Abdullah Mishik and his brother Shahab Abdullah Mishik.
Photos of the deceased showed a middle aged couple, Enaam and Suleiman. In one photo shared by Mhmd Kaseem on Facebook, Enaam Hassan Qasim was wearing a black hijab and black clothes, looking off-camera next to her husband who was wearing a burgundy cap, large glasses, and dark gray and black clothes as he smiled into the camera.
Another photo circulated of the three deceased, with photos of the individuals stitched together, including Shahab Abdullah Mishik wearing a straw fedora and a plaid shirt while sitting under a tree.
With the photos, captions of grief and condolences were shared by those who knew the family or by the family members themselves on Facebook. Ali Mishik, a cousin of Enaam and Suleiman, wrote in the posts that the couple died after the attack on their home. Mhmd Kassem asked that God “make [their] abode in heaven”.
Where sources identified the belligerent, multiple sources used the word “targeting” which in the context of the conflict likely refers to the Israeli military while some sources directly attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
