Airwars assessment

One man was killed, and as many as 13 people were injured, in an alleged Israeli airstrike in Beit Hanoun, North Gaza on May 10th 2021, according to multiple sources.

Ibrahim Ahmed Khamis al-Shenbari (20), was killed and 13 others, including 4 women and 2 children, were wounded, according to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights. They were taken to Beit Hanoun Hospital where their injuries were described as light to moderate.

Ibrahim was a member of the Izz ad-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, according to a post on the group’s website.

Sources differ as to the location of the strike. The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights said a missile fell close to the al-Rahman Mosque in Zaytun, causing damage to the mosque and nearby houses. Twitter user, @Mohammed_awed12, said the strike targetted the home of the Al-Shenbari family. Khames Al Shanbari, Ibrahim’s brother, told The National Ibrahim had been targetted whilst jogging in Beit Hanoun.

According to multiple sources, Ibrahim spent his final hours distributing gifts to children as part of the Eid festivities. He was described as “an imam of the worshipers” (a model to other worshippers) by a Twitter user @zumurd111.

Ibrahim’s friend, Abed Al Masry, told The National: “I am so sad for losing Ibrahim and it’s not only me,” Mr. Al Masry said. “The whole town is sad. He was known for his kind heart and his loving attitude towards others.”

The strike occurred at approximately 21:30 local time.

The incident occured at approximately 9:30 pm local time.
