At least two identified civilians, including a 17-year-old boy, were reportedly killed in an alleged Israeli drone strike on al-Abbara Street, west of the al-Qarara Secondary School in the al-Qarara area of Khan Younis, on Friday, 27th October 2023.
Numerous sources, including the Gazan Shehab News Agency, reported that two people had been killed in the strike. However, the Facebook account “Follow-up of deaths in the city of Khan Yunis “Qiratan” shared a picture of the dead body of an unidentified man who had been allegedly killed in the same airstrike.
17-year-old Abdel Fattah Ahmed Abdel Fattah al-Salout was identified to have been killed by the al-Qarara Pulse news page on Facebook. His death was also announced on Facebook by his uncle Ali al-Salout, who mourned his eldest nephew, writing, “O God, forgive him, have mercy on him, overlook him, and make his abode gardens of bliss.” He shared two images of the late Abdel Fattah, a teenager smiling to a camera.
The al-Qarara Pulse identified the second man killed in the strike as 27-year-old Abdul Rahim Jamal Ammar and shared his image, a young bearded man dressed in an Adidas sport suit, standing in front of a wall.
Both of those killed were transported to the Nasser hospital in the aftermath of the strike.
Al-Aqsa Voice reported on Twitter/X that the strike hit a group of civilians, although sources did not identify any further injuries or deaths beyond those identified above.
The names of the victims were matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health list of fatalities in Gaza released on July 24, 2024.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces.
The incident occured at approximately 1:30 pm local time.
