Airwars assessment
During the afternoon of October 28th 2023, dozens of people were killed and wounded by alleged Israeli airstrikes on the Nassar family home in the Al-Nasr neighborhood of Gaza City. The names and ages of the victims have not been found by Airwars among local sources, besides the family name.
A Facebook post from Ahmad Assaf reported on “Dozens killed and dozens injured in the bombing of the Nassar family home” while journalist @TareqFarra tweeted that 15 people had been killed in “three air raids carried out by Israeli… aircraft on homes, one of which belongs to the Nassar family” – it is unclear how many of the 15 people killed were killed in this incident. None of the sources found provided a number for how many people were killed or injured.
Images taken by Motasem Mortaja and other local sources show at least one injured man, another injured person (gender unclear), and a body covered in a blanket being carried from the site of the attack.
According to several sources including Sky News Arabia and Al-Jazeera Egypt, the multi-story residential building of the Nassar family in the Al-Nasr neighbourhood was completely destroyed by the airstrike, while a tweet from @M_Alzanin mentioned that “three residential homes” were struck. As depicted in videos and reported by sources like Sky News Arabia and The Palestinian Archive, neighbours carried out a rescue mission by pulling out civilians from under the rubble and carrying them to a nearby car because they were unable to call an ambulance or the civil defence crew, due to the [Israeli forces] cutting off communications.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strikes to Israeli forces.
The incident occured in the afternoon.
