On Friday June 7th, 2024, 44-year-old Tayseer Hani Sweilem (Abu Hani) was reportedly killed as a result of alleged Israeli gunfire from a Quadcopter aircraft north of Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip.

Many local sources, including Kalefalgtiea, Khaled Mohammad and Rania Alkhodary reported on the incident and identified Tayseer Sweilem as the young man who had died. In a tribute, Bara Saleh Post said “The martyrdom of my uncle, my father-in-law, my second father, and the crown of my head, Tayseer Hani Sweilem, to the garden of bliss”.

None of the sources explicitly attribute the incident to Israeli forces. However, multiple sources mention that a quadcopter was responsible for the strike, and only Israeli forces possessed the technology of lethal drones at the time of the strike.

Tayseer’s name has also been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health list of fatalities in Gaza released July 24th 2024, which explicitly attributed the deaths to Israeli forces. Therefore, this incident has been graded as a “likely strike” and “fair”.
