On Friday morning, April 12th 2024, an alleged drone strike by the Israeli Military resulted in the death of a child and multiple injuries in an area north of the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in Gaza. Although the number of injuries is unspecified, several news outlets and social media users reported that the casualties were brought to Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat after “intense gunfire from [a] Quadcopter aircraft.” The name of the deceased child was not identified on open sources.
Khabrnews posted a video on Twitter/X depicting the alleged drone strike. The video captures the sound of numerous shots being fired, immediately followed by the sound of an explosion. Additionally, the footage shows dust rising from the site of the suspected strike.
Moreover, multiple news outlets such as Aljazeera Egypt, @Sa7atPlBreaking, Euronews Arabic, the independent news outlet Wattan.net, Palestine Today, and other Palestinian media, all reported on the drone strike. They reported that multiple people were injured and one child was killed in the quadcopter drone strike as well as corroborating that casualties were brought to Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat.
Social media users also posted on Twitter/X and Facebook about the drone strike and the resultant multiple casualties. For example, Abu Al-Hasan posted on Facebook, “Quadcopter fires, bombs, and takes control of various areas north of Nuseirat.” Similarly, on Twitter/X, @Hamzaalnamla1 posted, “Urgent | A number of injuries arrived at Al-Awda Hospital as a result of Quadcopter aircraft firing on citizens in the north of Al-Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.”
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli Military.
