Between two and four civilians died and several others were wounded in an alleged Coalition airstrike on Hajeen, according to local media. Sources said that the strike hit the car which the victims were in.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights put the death toll at two, though most other sources said that three died. The Smart News Agency, also blaming the Coalition put the death toll at four.

On March 10, 2022 in the CJTF-OIR Civilian Casualty Report, the Coalition reported this incident to be “non-credible”, stating that “After review of all available evidence it was determined that more likely than not civilian casualties did not occur as a result of a Coalition strike.”

Three professors from the University of Mosul were among four civilians and a Daesh official reported killed in an alleged Coaliton airstrike.

According to the National Iraqi News Agency, Salah Mohammed Afri, responsible for student affairs, “was killed along with two [or three] professors appointed by Daesh to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Mosul. They died at a medical complex on the edge of the campus.”

ARA News, citing a Nineveh police official, suggested that the attack had deliberately targeted four university employees and a Daesh official, all of whom were pro-ISIL.

In their January 2020 civilian casualty report, the US-led Coalition assessed reports that they were responsible for civilian harm in this strike as “non-credible”, stating that no Coalition actions were conducted in the geographical area at that time.

Four civilians were reportedly killed in an alleged Coalition strike on al Sukkar, survivors told the US news magazine Buzzfeed. The alliance later accepted responsibility for the incident.

Buzzfeed met with survivors in mid-2017, with the outlet later sharing its incident notes with Airwars: Eyewitness told journalist Mike Giglio when he met him at his home he had lost his wife and three daughters.

Date and approximate time: December 14, 2016, at around 12:45 pm

Casualties: The wife and three daughters of Abu Ali, a Jordan native who has been living in Mosul since the 1980s.

Comments: Abu Ali left his home to get gas for the family generator when the strike hit. There was no fighting in the neighbourhood. It had a heavy ISIS presence, but there were no ISIS-held buildings in the immediate vicinity. Abu Ali and witnesses were not sure why the strike hit there; they speculated that might be an important ISIS member was driving by. The blast destroyed the home and killed everyone inside.

In its September 2017 monthly casualty report, the Coalition accepted responsibility: Dec. 14, 2016, near Mosul, Iraq, via media report: During a strike on an ISIS mortar position engaging partner forces, it was assessed that four civilians were unintentionally killed.

Officials confirmed to Airwars that this incident related to al Sukkur, with coordinates matching those provided by Buzzfeed.

Four civilians died and seven were injured in an alleged Coalition airstrike on the village of Hamra Blassem, according to local sources.

Halab Today, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Raqqa is Being Slaughtered and the Syrian Network all blamed the Coalition, putting the death toll at four.

According to Syria News Desk – which also pointed to the Coalition – “the media opposition activist Ahmed Mazer, quoting civilian sources from the eastern countryside, said that the strikes caused the destruction of three houses and the burning of another, in addition to damage to other property.” Raqqa Post reported that “the main water supplying tank was destroyed in Hamra Blassem”. It also blamed the Coalition.

June 15th 2017, the French MoD reported "in the past week, France reports his 31 sorties, 28 of which were Armed Reconnaissance or Ground Support (CAS) and 3 were intelligence gathering.
