Local sources reported that twelve civilians were killed and dozens wounded in alleged Coalition airstrikes on Ba’aj in western Nineveh.

A press source told Yaqein that “aircraft of the International Coalition launched intensive raids on the district of the western area of Nineveh province” and that it “resulted in the deaths of 12 civilians and wounding dozens, who have not been counted so far.”

Al Jazeera quoted the ISIL press agency, blaming US aircraft for the raids.

According to the Smart News Agency, likely Coalition “air raids raged in the southern neighborhoods of the city and were concentrated at Al Rahma Mosque and Al Ajili Pharmacy, as well as Al Mughniyeh neighborhood and the Old Garage, killing four civilians and injuring seven others, according to another local source.”

Syrian Mirror also put the death toll at four and blamed the Coalition.

The incident was first reported on April 26, 2017 at 2:50 pm by @sonawa1.

While Al Jazeera (referring to an ISIL source) and a tweet by @aisha_iq95 said the Coalition was responsible, other sources spoke both of Coalition and Iraqi forces aircraft carrying out the airstrikes.

Airwars assessment

One woman died and several other civilians were wounded in an incident in Al Rahiyat, according to local media – though it was unclear whether the Coalition, the Syrian Democratic Forces or ISIL were responsible.

Shaam News Network was the only source that named the Coalition as the culprit. Step News Agency instead blamed artillery shelling for a woman’s death and the injury of several other civilians. But Qasioun reported that a woman was killed by an ISIL sniper, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said an ISIL bomb was responsible for a woman’s death.

Hope-fm-radio also reported “ISIL mortars”, while according to Raqqa24, “Syria Democratic Forces targeted a gathering of displaced people”.

Al Raqqa Truth named the victim but did not mention the culprit.

Airwars assessment

Up to eighteen civilians including nine children and three women died in alleged Coalition airstrikes in Tabaqa, according to multiple local sources.

Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently reported that “the family of Ali Abu Aish was killed after they were targeted by a coalition plane with machine gun fire while they were trying to leave Al Tabaqa.” The group later said that as many as 17 civilians were killed, reporting that they died “as a result of the targeting by international coalition aircraft of civilian cars as the cars tried to get out of the city of Al Tabaqa which is besieged by the Kurdish militias.”

Step News Agency was among other sources attributing the incident to the Coalition. It said that the death toll had risen to 11. According to Al Jazeera, which also put the death toll at 11 including eight from one family, the Coalition carried out a raid “near the School of Industry” while another strike “targeted a car of a family trying to flee the city.” Syrian Press Center and Qasioun put the death toll as high as 18.

Airwars assessment

According to the Smart News Agency, “a local source said that aircraft of the International Coalition, launched a raid on an ISIL car in al Thakana neighborhood in the city of Raqqa, which led to the death of one of the latter [ISIL member], and a child and wounding five civilians who were next to the targeted car.”

The local time of the incident is unknown.

The declassified documents were obtained by Azmat Khan and the New York Times through Freedom of Information requests and lawsuits filed since March 2017, and are included alongside the corresponding press release published by the Pentagon. For April 24th-25th, the Coalition reported: “Near Tabqah, seven strikes engaged three ISIS tactical units; destroyed three ISIS command and control nodes, a fighting position, and a heavy machine gun; and suppressed two ISIS tactical units.”

For April 25th-26th, the Coalition reported no strikes at Raqqa though noted that “Near Tabqah, six strikes engaged four ISIS tactical units; and destroyed four fighting positions and a fuel truck.“

The Coalition later reported: "Near Tabqah, on April 25, two strikes destroyed two fighting positions" and * "On April 24, near Tabqah, two strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units; and destroyed two fighting positions and a rocket-propelled grenade team"
