Airwars assessment

A single source, Amr Fathalla, reported on Twitter that one civilian was killed in artillery shelling in the Salaheddin neighbourhood of Tripoli.

@AmrFatihalla listed Amer Faraj Ahmed, 60 years old, as dead as a result of indiscriminate shelling. In addition, Malik Amer Faraj, 18 years old, Saleh Ali al Fiel, 53 years old, and Juma Amer Faraj, 11 years old, were reported injured from shrapnel. The source didn’t mention who was behind the shelling.

Another source, Atlas Assistance, however, said that the Nawasi Brigade, the ‘Ghneiwa’ Brigade and the Tripoli Revolutionaries Brigade (TRB), which all are under the GNA umbrella, as well as the rivalling 7th Brigade, also known a Kani Brigade from Tarhouna, shelled the area. According to the source, there were “dozens killed & injured today in armed clashes in the southern suburbs of Tripoli” but no civilian harm was specifically mentioned.

Airwars assessment

The LNA reportedly bombed in the Al-Fatayih neighbourhood in Derna near the Faculty of Agriculture, resulting in the death of one six-month-old child.

According to Libya Al Khabar, “A child from the eastern Libyan city of Derna died on Friday [April 14th] after falling into a coma after an airstrike close to his family’s home”.

Libya Alahrar TV also said that a child died in a strike “carried out by Al-Karama aircraft.”

Al Nabaa reported a week after the incident that the child was part of the Shinib family.

Some other sources, including S777 and  Libya Today TV – reported “material damage” to the area but “no loss of life”.

fares11elforsan said that the strike targeted “al-Qaeda in the vicinity of the Faculty of Agriculture”.

One child died in an alleged LNA airstrike on Darnah, according to local media.

The Libya Observer reported: “A baby from the Al-Harir family was killed in a dignity operation airstrike in Darnah. The airstrike targeted the Shabia apartment buildings causing extensive damage to Musa Al-Harir’s apartment and destroying cars parked on the street below.”

Libya’s Channel also reported that the alleged LNA airstrike hit a residential building in the Ghazi neighbourhood of Darnah. The site said that three civilians from one family had been injured, but didn’t give any names.

One man was reportedly killed and two children injured in an LNA airstrike on Murzuq.

Arraed wrote: “A source from Murzuq hospital on Sunday reported the arrival of the body of an elderly man killed by LNA bombing, as well as the wounding of two children with shrapnel.

The source, who declined to be named, said that the children are between 6 and 7 years old and were injured by shrapnel, and that they are now stable.”

Libya Al Ahrar published a similar report: “The head of the southern operations force, Hassan Musa, reported that one person was killed and two wounded by airstrikes by the Karama operation [LNA] on Sunday in Murzuq.”

One source published pictures of supposed victims while others showed the impact of the strike.

According to many local sources, one child was reported killed in an alleged LNA airstrike on the Ganfouda neighbourhood of Benghazi.

Alwasat wrote: The house of the brother of MP Amal Muhammad Baiou was shelled in the Ganfouda area, killing Hassan Salah Mohammed Baiou and the house completely collapsed.

His family announced that the funeral would take place in the family’s home.

Operation Martyr Abdel-Moneim also reported his death and posted a picture of the dead body on Facebook.

Mohamed Eldarsi only posted a general tweet about airstrikes on Benghazi saying civilians died” because of them.

Other sources only reported airstrikes in various areas of Benghazi without mentioning civilian harm.

Various sources reported an LNA strike near Al-Jufra that allegedly killed a man and injured four Chadian citizens. However, the sources didn’t give information regarding whether the victims were civilians or not.

According to Ali Salim, “there was one dead and four Chadian wounded following night air raids on Al Jufra base.”

Ean Libya reported that there had been no civilian casualties, however, Libya Alaan reported that “the airbase was blown up by aerial bombardment on Tuesday night [April 4th], resulting in the injury of missile launchers who were there”.
