Almanar News (a pro-regime Hezbullah channel) reported the death of two civilians and the wounding of four more by the Coalition.

Smart News reported: “A local source told our correspondent that warplanes likely belonging to the coalition launched a raid on the village of Fakhikhah (about 5 km west of the city of Raqqa, on the other side of the bridge), killing two civilians and injuring four others, who were taken by boats to the city hospital.”

Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently reported: “Coalition planes targeted trucks in the western village of Al Salhabiya, west of Raqqa, that were trying to open the road from Al Salhabiya to Al Raqqa after the flood of the al Ballikh channel, Balikh, killing the driver of a truck.”

According to All4Syria, a Coalition strike killed one man when “a bulldoze was targeted, killing the driver as he was trying to open the Salhibiya-Raqqa road after flooding of the Belikh Canal”.

Local media reported that 51 civilians were killed and 60 wounded due to airstrikes, artillery shelling and/or possible ISIL actions in Makawi, Fateh, 17 July, Matahen and Zanjili neighbourhoods.

While all sources blamed airstrikes and artillery, Mosul 24 also said ISIL had played a part in the deaths, noting “the martyrdom of more than 15 families who were attempting to escape from areas of ISIL influence and control, as a result of a mutual bombardment between the Iraqi security forces and ISIL on the Zanjili neighborhood near the ice factory Alqazzaz. Tanks of the Iraqi forces have entered the area twice but withdrew after helping many families escape.”

Local sources reported that nineteen civilians died when international Coalition or Iraqi aircraft hit Islah Al Zerae neighbourhood in West Mosul. Yaqein also noted that two houses were fully destroyed.

Several other sources reported that in total on that Friday, up to 36 civilians were injured or killed as a result of airstrikes on West Mosul neighbourhoods.

Both Iraqi forces and the Coalition were mentioned as responsible for the various raids. Sonawa indicated that ISIL may have been a source for some of the casualty claims.

In a field report which may relate to this or another event, Amnesty International noted the following – citing a local witness: “The fourth airstrike was two weeks after the first (around the end of April). An entire family was killed when an airplane (presumed) hit a house near Mahmoud water-well. This time it was 150 metres from the house where I was staying. They killed another entire family in this house. I don’t know what the target was as this time I was unable to get to the scene. By now they had destroyed the roads and all the intersection with airstrikes so the streets were impassable.”

According to local sources – which referred to a statement by Al Amaq (ISIL press agency) and residents of West Mosul – up to 79 civilians were killed and 159 wounded, mostly women and children, after airstrikes of the Coalition and Iraqi forces hit many neighbourhoods in West Mosul over a four day period.

M.N.N. (Mosul News) reported on Facebook that Mohammed Abdullah Ramadan was a victim “of Coalition and Iraqi forces shelling” (photo below). And the facebook page Victims of the International Coalition in Mosul published three photographs which it said featured victims Shehab al-Hassu, his son Hudayfah, and a cousin Riad Hazem.

Al-Araby News reported that the “Iraqi Air Force on Monday renewed the shelling for the liberation of neighborhoods in West Mosul, while members of the provincial council confirmed the presence of more than 200,000 civilians in areas controlled by the Islamic State.

A local source in Mosul told Al-Araby that the Iraqi air force bombed the neighborhoods of Rifai and Zanjili and July 17, and pointed out that the shelling was indiscriminate and did not focus on the ISIL headquarters. He also pointed to the number of victims whose number was not known, as a result of the fall of a number of rockets on some inhabited houses, adding that the rest of the old neighborhoods of Mosul under the control of “Daash”, were full of civilians, who fled to these areas to escape previous battles.”

For May 1st-2nd 2017 the Coalition reported: “Near Mosul; two strikes engaged two ISIS tactical units and destroyed two mortar systems, a front-end loader, an artillery system, a fighting position, a VBIED factory, and a medium machine gun.” It additionally stated that “Near Mosul, May 1st, three strikes destroyed three VBIEDs and three ISIS fuel tankers, and suppressed three mortar teams.”
