Airwars assessment

Two civilians – reportedly women – were wounded in Al Baghouz, according to local media. The attack may have resulted from Iraqi or Coalition artillery.

Sharqiya Voice reporetd that “two women were injured as a result of the fall of Iraqi artillery shells on the village of # Albaguz amid the movement of the displacement of residents towards the village of Sousse and Shafa.”

Radio Amal cited the Syrian Observatory for Human Rightsm reporting that “the Observatory pointed to the sound of explosions in the area caused by the fall of shells in the village of Al-Baghouz and the town of Al-Shafa, causing the injury of several people.”. The source didn’t say who was responsible for the shelling, meaning that a Coalition action cannot be ruled out as Coalition artillery may also have been active in the area.

Airwars assessment

Fourteen named civilians were killed as missiles were reportedly fired at residential buildings in Abu al Duhur town in Idlib. There is dispute over whether the attack was carried out by Russia or the Syrian regime, with Al Jazeera blaming both.

According to All4Syria News, it was Russian warplanes that struck the area, and eight civilians were killed as a result. Shahba News also blamed Russia. Edlib Media blamed the Assad regime for the airstrike.

Step News reported that nine people were killed in the strike and also commented that most of the civilians killed were displaced from South Aleppo.

Baladi News Network – also pointing at the regime – put the death toll still higher, at 10 – with 10 more people wounded. The Syrian Coalition put the numbers till higher at 13 killed.

According to Step News a small boy was killed and his brothers were seriously wounded. A local source claims that may were wounded.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, “Warplanes carried out after midnight yesterday a raid on Ter’ei farms southeast of Khan Shekhoun city in the southern countryside of Idlib, while SOHR received information about the death of a child when warplanes bombed areas in the town of Abu al-Duhur in the eastern countryside of Idlib after midnight yesterday.”

Airwars assessment

A young man, Khalil Omar Muhammad (Alyan Al-Astal), was allegedly killed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip on October 15th, 2023.

Funeral arrangements for the deceased were posted by the Al Astal Family Website and were planned for 10am in Al Nimsawi. A family member named Reda Salem Alastal also posted a condolence message for Khalil.

Airwars has matched the name of the civilian killed with the Palestinian Ministry of Health list of fatalities in Gaza released on October 26th, 2023, which explicitly mentions that names on the list are “victims of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip”. As there was little other reporting on who was responsible, the strike status has been graded as “single source claim”, and the strike type as airstrike/and or artillery given the nature of Israeli actions at this time.

Airwars assessment

Local sources reported the death of a male civilian as a result of an alleged Coalition military action in the vicinity of Tal al Jayer, east of the city of Shaddadi in the southern countryside of Hasakah governorate.

An Al-Khabour correspondent stated that helicopters engaged in a “landing operation” near the Al Sheikh fuel station, allegedly targeting Iraqis and arresting three families, including women and children. According to the report, one civilian was killed in accompanying clashes between Coalition forces and so-called Islamic State. The correspondent reported that the victim, who was identified as Alaa al Barzan, who just “happened to be there”.

The death of the civilian was also reported by Syria News Station, a pro-regime outlet, which also made mention of a number of injured civilians. SNS stated that its sources “confirmed that the clashes resulted in the martyrdom of a civilian and injuring others from the Barzan family” after the “evacuation plan” of US helicopters at 11pm.

Damascus News Network reported that the event took place without any airstrikes. Local sources told the network that indeed three US helicopters had landed near the fuel station to transfer three ISIS families of Iraqi nationality. However, although US jets were said to to accompany the operation, they flew over the region “without any targeting”. That description did not however rule out small arms fire on the ground.

The incident occured at 23:00:00 local time.
