Airwars assessment

Four civilians were killed in a reported afternoon airstrike on Qortoba village, as a heavy Coalition/ SDF campaign against ISIL continued.

Al A’Amaq Media reported two deaths initially. According to Syria News Desk, “Coalition aircraft bombed three houses in the centre of Qahtaniyah, killing four civilians including a child, and injuring more than 14 others, including six dangerous situations, were taken by residents to the National hospital of Raqqa in addition to the destruction of two houses completely and damaging three others nearby houses and material damage to other large property.”

Raqqa is Being Slaughtered named the civilian fatalities.

In its February 2017 casualty report, the Coalition noted that “Nov. 25, 2016, near Ar Raqqah, Syria, via self-report: After a review of available information and strike video it was assessed that no civilians were harmed in this strike..” However Airwars continues to assess this as a likely event.

Between 1 and 3 civilians were reportedly injured by alleged YPG/SDF/PKK artillery strikes on Al Sina’a neighbourhood in Afrin city, on October 10th 2019, according to local media sources.

According to AA News, the attack was launched from Tal Refa’at, which the YPG controls. Whereas AA News reported 1 wounded civilian, Qasioun News reported 3 wounded.

Airwars assessment

At least one woman was killed and another woman injured in an alleged YPG/SDF/PKK artillery attack on the village of Al Jalaba, west of Tal Abyad, on October 22nd, 2019, according to local sources.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights reported that “Mrs. Zalkha Hamad al Abbou, from Ein al Arous village which is administratively a part of Tal Abyad city in the northern suburbs of Raqqa governorate, was killed as Syrian Democratic forces artillery fired a mortar shell on Al Jalaba village in the northern suburbs of Raqqa governorate, on October 22, 2019”. Suriye.u.a.d also reported the injury of Sanaa Khalaf Al-Jassem.

@AlhadathAlfurai reported that two children and one woman died, and four others were wounded. The other sources do not mention children being killed.

Airwars assessment

Up to three civilians died during a battle for control of Kabish. While most sources blamed SDF artillery, one claimed that the US-led Coalition was responsible for the deaths.

A single source, Eldorar, reported that three civilians died in an alleged Coalition strike on Kabish.

However according to Raqqa Post, one victim, Sadeq Qassem, was was killed in “shelling by the militias of Saleh Muslim”.

Raqqa24 blamed “violent raids” by SDF artillery for the death of one civilian.

Multiple sources said that dozens of civilians were killed or injured when a Coalition airstrike hit a health center, a power station and a market in Zab town, southwest of Kirkuk.

Raedlay posted a video showing the aftermath of the strikes and the destruction of the health center. Correspondences Team said that four strikes had been carried out, blaming the Coalition.

Journalists had told Iraqyoon that the raids had killed and wounded dozens of civilian doctors, and had “destroyed the headquarters of the old ID office and medical clinic”.

One civilian was slightly injured by alleged Russian and/or Syrian regime shelling of the village of Mantaf on October 28, 2022.

@SyriaCivilDefe tweeted that a civilian was slightly wounded by Russian and Syrian regime artillery shelling of the village of Mantaf in the evening.

Multiple other local sources, including @baladinetwork, reported on heavy artillery shelling of the town of Mantaf but no other sources mentioned civilian injuries.

@abo_aljod84 and @anasanas84 reported that intense shelling of the village of Mantaf came from the camps of the Iranian and Russian forces. However, @syr_television attributed shelling to the Syrian regime forces.
