Airwars assessment

A child was reportedly killed and 12 more people injured as a result of Turkish artillery shelling in Al Bab.

The ISIS-affiliated media outlet Al A’amaq reported: “A child was killed and 12 people injured by Turkish artillery on the neighbourhoods of Al Bab northeast of Aleppo.“

Ajal posted a similar report on Twitter, though also noted that the child victim was a girl.

Al Jazeera and TRT reported airstrikes on ISIS positions in the north, northeast and west of Al Bab and in the Al Qabaseen village near the city, though made no mention of civilian harm. TRT noted in particular the heavy bombardment that day: “# Urgent Turkish army, Air Force destroyed 17 sites of the organization # Daesh in the north and north-east and west of the city of # Bab (east of Aleppo #) and the villages of Kabassin.”

Local sources reported that one named civilian was killed another two seriously wounded by alleged Russian bombing of the village of Arab Wayan, in the district of Sahra, Aleppo.

Afrin Now reported that “the citizen ‘Adnan Ibrahim Abu’ Akeid was killed and Ali Juma’a and his son Juma’a Juma’a were seriously wounded by the bombing of Arab Wayan”.

Other sources also reported the death of one civilian and injury of up to two more.

Weelat added in a tweet that the Syrian Free Army was involved in the incident, reporting “The death of a civilian and the injury of two as a result of the aggression of the Turkish occupation and mercenaries of the Syrian Free Army”.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, “a woman was killed and her husband was wounded in Turkish artillery and rocket shelling on areas in Bzaah town near al-Bab city”.

Al Bab24 reported the death of “the wife of Ahmad Salah Kassem, the daughter of Mr. Haseeb” in “artillery shelling” – though it didn’t name the culprit.

On February 23rd, Hawar News said: “The Turkish occupation army is constantly bombarding the area of Gondrissa with planes and artillery. Hundreds of shells fall daily on the center and villages of the area. As a result of the Turkish bombardment of the center of the region last night, Arab citizen Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim died. He was born in 1973.”

Several sources reported the targeting of civilian infrastructure by Turkish warplanes in Al Bab, Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights wrote: “Turkish warplanes targeted the national hospital in the city of Bab in the north-eastern Aleppo countryside with several strikes, which is controlled by the Islamic State. No information about casualties so far.”

Khaled Shaban reported something similar on Twitter.

The ISIS news outlet Al A’amaq claimed that the hospital was hit by three strikes.

Step News said there were “deaths and injuries” but didn’t elaborate if they were civilians.

Two civilians were killed in alleged Turkish airstrikes on  the village of Jamo, according to some sources.

Afrin Anha reported: “The Turkish occupation continues to shell the houses of the residents of Afrin and its villages. The shelling of the village of Jama in the Shara area wounded 50-year-old Abdul Qader Hamo, who was seriously injured and taken to Afrin Hospital. Despite the intervention of the medical staff in the hospital, the citizen Abdul Qadir Hamo, died of his wounds in the abdomen.” The Syrian Observatory also reported Mr Hamo’s death.

According to Free Afrin and Rumaf, a civilian named Gilo Ibrahim also died in an alleged Turkish strike on Jamo.
