Airwars assessment

Between 10 and 14 civilians were reportedly injured by Gaddafi forces artillery shelling on Nalut.

Libya Women tweeted: “The Gaddafi Brigades carried out rocket and mortar bombardments on the town of Nalut and the number of wounded was 10.”

Later it published another post saying the number of wounded had risen to 14. Other sources posted similar numbers.

17 Feb 2011 uploaded a video to Youtube showing victims, with some of them in military style uniforms.

Four to five civilians form one family were reportedly injured by LNA shelling on Ain Zara.

According to the Libya Observer four civilians were injured by indiscriminate shelling.

Al Wasat said: “A family was injured when a shell hit a house in the Diplomasi neighborhood of Ain Zara.

The spokesman for the authorities, in a statement to Al Wasat, that it injured three children and their father, their condition between medium and light, while the mother’s condition is critical.”

The Field Medicine and Support Center (FMSC) provided details on the injuries: “Mother: Hoda Abu-Zeid injured by shrapnel in the head

Father: Moftah Hussein Al-Sayid: shrapnel wound in his hand

Rima Muftah Al-Sayid: shrapnel injury in the back area

Abdullah Muftah Al-Sayid: injury simple shrapnel

Abdulrahman Muftah Al-Sayid: Simple shrapnel injury”

Other sources also said five people were injured. Libya Alahrar TV and Tk Yahroug Kl shy said it was the result of an airstrike and not an artillery strike.

According to local sources, three random mortar shells landed on Ben Ashour area in Tripoli, Libya on January 2nd, 2020. One of the mortars fell on the house of Quraira Ammar family causing injuries among civilians, while the other two fell on Al Sikka road.

According to Africa Gate, civilians were warned not to gather in the areas that were shelled fearing any shelling renewal or un-exploded mortar shells.

Between two and five civilians were allegedly injured by LNA shelling on the Abu Salim area of Tripoli.

218TV reported two “severe” injuries.

Libya Observer said three people were injured.

Al Wasat reported five injured and added: “The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in the Al-Wefaq government [GNA], Amin Al-Hashemi, announced the names of the injured children who had fallen as a result of shells on the Abu Salim municipality.

According to Al-Hashemi, the shells left 5 wounded, including three children from one family, Ahmed Harb Ali Al-Bouzdi, 10 years old (M), who was wounded with shrapnel at the heart level and needed an urgent operation, And his brother and sister Rim, 15 years old (F), injured in the feet and Ayham, 7 years old, injured on his a face (M).”

Other sources said five civilians were injured, accusing the LNA.

The GNA-led Burkan Al Ghadab operation published two different posts on civilian casualties in Abu Salim, accumulating to six people wounded. Besides the three children mentioned above it reported: “A team from the center toured the field to find out the injuries left by the fall of a shell this evening, Monday, February 24, 2020 in Abu Salim area, next to the Zubair mosque, on the citizens sitting in a funeral and caused the following injuries.”

The Libya Observer said: Several civilians, including children, were injured in unprovoked firing and shelling by Haftar’s militias on the Hadhaba area, south of Tripoli, on Friday, Mayor of Abu Salim, Abdul Rahman Al-Hamidi has said.”

Libya Alaharar TV reported: “The mayor of Abu Salim Abdul Rahman Al-Hamedi reported that a number of civilians, including children, were injured as a result of Hifter militia shells falling on the homes of citizens in the Al Hadaba Al Qassi area.

Al-Hamidi added in a statement to Al-Ahrar Libya that the injured people were transferred to Al-Khadra Hospital for treatment, noting that a state of panic and panic prevailed among the citizens who seemed unable to make their decision between staying in their homes in implementation of the ban measures or leaving them due to the missiles of Haftar militias, according to him.”
