Airwars assessment

Up to two volunteers for the Syria Civil Defense were reported killed, and four to five others injured, in the second of a double-tap airstrike on the Al Beira neighborhood in east of  Khan Sheikoun city, Idlib, on June 26th.

The strike allegedly came following another airstrike, and killed Syrian Civil Defense members while they were tending to those wounded in the first attack.

Macro Media Center reported that “Civil Defense volunteers Ali Al Qadour and Omar Kayyal were killed, and two others were injured, following a double Russian air raid on a civilian defense ambulance in Khan Sheikhoun in southern Idlib.” Syrian Network for Human Rights noted that “that Ali is from Morek town in Hama governorate northern suburbs while Omar is from Khan Sheikhoun city.”

An earlier report from Macro Media Center, and Edlib Media Cnter cited the death of one member of Syria Civil Defense.

The Syrian Civil Defense themselves reported that both Ali and Omar were killed in the double-tap airstrike that wounded five other volunteers as well.

All sources discussing this incident attributed the attack to Russian forces, except for Smart News who attributed blame to the Syrian regime.

The Syrian Civil Defense published a statement that said ” that a thorough examination of the evidence, such as eyewitness accounts and the identification of munitions used in the attack on white helmets, has proved conclusively that the aircraft that committed the crime of targeting and killing our volunteers belong to the Russian Air Force, which used surveillance aircraft”.

The local time of the incident is unknown.
