Up to twelve civilians, including two women and six children, were killed and up to twenty civilians injured in alleged Russian airstrikes on the village of Abin Samaan, Aleppo governorate, on the night of February 9th to February 10th, 2020, according to local sources. Edlib Media Center said that three of those killed belong to the same family, a father and his two daughters.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that six children, two women and a man were killed. Among the twenty wounded, there were seven children and two women, some of whom in critical condition. SOHR added that the village was “crowded with displaced people”.

SMART News Agency quoted the Director of Media in the Syrian Civil Defence, who stated that “Russian warplanes launched raids on homes in the village, killing nine civilians, including children and women, and wounding more than 13 others, including five women and four children.” Later, SMART said that “a child was killed as a result of missile strikes by Russian warplanes on the town of Abyan Samaan, noting that the child was displaced from the town of Qalaat Al-Madeek, Hama.”

Shaam News Agency later reported that 12 civilians had been killed.

Omar Hallaq, an administrative employee at Atarib Hospital, told SMART that two killed civilians and seven wounded had reached them, and that others were brought to other hospitals.

Macro Media Centre reported that “a man and a girl were martyred as a preliminary outcome, and a child and a man were removed from the rubble of their house after targeting Russian warplanes with four airstrikes on the village of Abin Samaan in the western countryside of Aleppo”.

Edlib Media Center reported the use of barrel bombs.

All sources blamed Russia for the airstrike, with the exception of the Syrian Network for Human Rights, which pointed at the Syrian regime.
