Airwars assessment
Air and artillery strikes on Masraba wounded up to 15 civilians – and killed one child, according to sources on the ground. Reports blamed both Russia and the Assad regime.
According to Geiroon News, “medical staff tried within half an hour to revive a baby, who was pulled from the rubble, but did not succeed, and the child died as a result of the heavy Russian shelling”.
Other sources made no mention of fatalities, though Palestine News said 15 civilians had been wounded in the strikes. Other sources said “several” people were injured.
Alwatan News reported: “On Saturday [Jan 6th], 25 civilians were wounded in the town of Harasta and the town of Masaraba, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.”
Enabbaladi said that “warplanes launched raids on Harasta, Irbid, Madara, Masraba, Ein Tirma and Zamalek, totaling 70 air strikes”, while SSA noted that residential buildings had been “targeted” in Masraba.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
