Airwars assessment
Up to 12 civilians including children and one woman were killed and several more wounded, local media reported, following aerial shelling of Abad, Aleppo, allegedly carried out by Russia or the Syrian regime.
According to local reports, at least five and as many as 12 civilians were killed in tjhe airstrike. The Syrian Network for Human Rights, who put the death toll at seven, said that three children and one woman were among the victims. Additionally, Step News Agency said that “most of the victims were from the Shalash family.”
Moreover, among the wounded were members of the civil defence, several sources told. For instance, @Aleppo24 reported that “two members of the Civil Defense were injured in an air raid while they were helping civilians.”
The majority of sources attributed the strike to Russia. Among these was Smart News Agency who, through activists on the ground, reported that “the Russian aircraft targeted the village of Abad with rockets and heavy machine guns, killing five civilians and injuring others.”
However, the incident remains contested as a few sources mention that explosive barrels were dropped, a weapon known to be used by the regime.
Baladi News explicitly apportioned blame to the regime.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
