Airwars assessment
Between nine and 17 civilians were killed, and an unspecified number of others were wounded in airstrikes on Zamalka, local media reported. Sources blamed both Russia and the Syrian regime for the raids.
The lowest death toll was given as nine by the Syrian Network for Human Rights. But other sources put it higher. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, there were 35 dead and wounded in total.
The Violations Documentation Centre published a list of 17 unidentified adult male civilian fatalities – and blamed warplanes belonging to the “Syrian government and affiliated militias”.
Members of the White Helmets assisted in rescuing the wounded from the wreckage.
Cluster bombs were reportedly fired onto the residential neighbourhood.
The local time of the incident is unknown.
