A civilian and his pregnant wife were killed in alleged Russian airstrikes on Kafar Zeita, Hama governorate, on May 7th, 2019, according to local media.

Several sources reported the death of two civilians, named as Zaid Mahmoud Al Rajou and his wife Laila Al Rajou. According to the Syrian Press Centre, Laila was five months pregnant.

Syrian Press Centre provided more detail on the victims: “A young man and his pregnant wife died after their house was targeted in the town of Kafr Zeita in the northern suburb of Hama on Tuesday afternoon [May 7th].” Their home was reportedly hit with a Russin concussion missile.

Zaid Al Rajou was born in the city of Kafar Al Zeita in 1995 and had an agricultural baccalaureate. The Syrian Press Center added: “He ran a shop for ‘Zain Net’ and opened a net network in the city in 2014. He married about a year ago. He was waiting for his first child, and his wife was in the fifth month of her pregnancy when Russian occupation planes destroyed his dream and the dream of his wife.”

Syrian Press Centre added that Zaid had “studied at the nursing institute in Ma’arat Al Nu’man, receiving a nursing certificate to volunteer in Kafar Zeita hospital.” The couple was reportedly rushed to the hospital after the strike on their home but then died.

All sources pointed to Russia as the responsible belligerent. In the night of May 6th to May 7th, two women and two children were also killed in an alleged Russian airstrike on the city of Kafar Zeita.

The incident occured in the afternoon.
