On April 18th 2022, alleged Russian forces shelled a residential area of Nemyshlyanskyi district in Kharkiv. Local reports listed three civilian fatalities, including an elderly woman, and four civilians were wounded, including a 17 year old.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, through Channel 24, reported that Russian forces struck several residential buildings, resulting in the death of three civilians. The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office posted on Telegram that between 10:30 and 10:45am, Russian forces struck residential areas and the attack killed three people and damaged a home and a car.
This report was also issued by Suspilne News, which also included a statement from the Spokesman for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. Dmytro Chubenko said Russia committed a “violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder”. He went on to state that a 65 year old woman was killed, along with two men aged 20 and 30 respectively. The report included new information, confirming that four people were wounded, with the youngest victim reportedly 17 years old, and the oldest listed as 75.
Glavcom.ua reported that a residential building, similar to a dormitory with a grocery store on the first floor, suffered the greatest destruction and that one of the civilians killed received a shrapnel injury near a food stand.
