On Sunday, April 14th, 2024, a young Kurdish man named Muhammad Saeed Muhammad was reported dead as a result of an alleged drone strike by the Turkish military on his house located in the village of Galala in the Mawt (Maute) district of the Sulaymaniyah Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
At 3:07 pm, Twitter/X user @IslamZebari shared a video showing a group of men at a site with rubble carrying a heavy object in a big blue plastic bag. The video showed the remnants of a Holy Quran and debris at the location. The user identified the site as the house of a civilian who was allegedly killed by a Turkish drone strike.
Islam Zebari mourned the death of Muhammad who was known as a memorizer of the Holy Quran. “Before his martyrdom, he was reciting the Qur’an, and upon his martyrdom, his body was transformed into scattered pieces, and his pure blood decorated the pages of the Quran.”, wrote Islam. He also shared an image of the victim – a man in his early thirties dressed in a white shirt and black suit.
All the sources identify the Turkish military as responsible for the attack.
