In the afternoon of Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, an alleged Turkish artillery strike on the Shaala (Sha’ale) village in Al-Shahba District in Aleppo’s northern countryside, Syria, injured three civilians, among them a woman and a child.
Multiple sources, including Afrin News, Fox Press, SOHR, and others, reported that the artillery bombardment attributed to the Turkish military resulted in hospitalization for three refugees from Afrin: Muhammad Mustafa, Amina Blige (Blij), and Roslyn Mustafa.
The sources attested the three injured civilians were displaced refugees from Afrin, while one source alleged that they came from the same family. Muhammad Mustafa is 50 years old, Amina Blige is 45 years old and Roslyn Mustafa is 16 years old. Reports from Shahba and Afrin news accounts on Facebook, along with Facebook user Hogar Necar, indicated that the three civilians were injured while they were inside their home during the artillery strike. According to a report from Afrin News 24, the injured civilians were taken to Favin Hospital for treatment; their health condition was reported as stable.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Turkish military.
