Last Updated: December 31, 2024

During the morning of Tuesday, 30th January 2024, an elderly man was injured in an artillery bombardment with contested responsibility allegedly perpetrated by the Syrian Democratic Forces and/or the Syrian regime forces on a residential home and surrounding agricultural lands in the village of Anab located in the northern countryside of Afrin, north of Aleppo, Syria.

The Syrian Civilian Defence (White Helmets) and a Facebook post by Seham Al reported that an elderly man was injured. Some of the reports stated that the target of the strike was Turkish military forces in the village. A Facebook Post by Rojava Gündemi announced that members of Turkish forces were also killed and injured as a result of the missile bombardment.

A Twiter/X user @syrianewsag shared a video of the damage inflicted to the residential homes where a hole in the roof and rubble on the floor can be seen. The Syrian Civilian Defence also shared a photo of a large hole in a wall or a ceiling.

Facebook posts by organisations such as the Halab post alleged that the perpetrators of the strike were the SDF and/ or Syrian regime forces.
