Airwars assessment

Four civilians were reported killed in an alleged LNA airstrike on Darnah.

Majed wrote on Twitter that “the number of martyrs killed by the Haftar airliner has risen to four in the city of Darnah, the same number of civilians killed by ISIS.”

Mohamed Tarbah also reported the targeting of civilians: “A military aircraft bombard civilians in Darnah (Al Majri house).”

Al Bayan said that the airstrike was supposed to hit the ISIS police in Darnah but missed its target and hit the house of the Al Majri family instead.

Other sources like Al Nabaa published similar reports.

Airwars assessment

One civilian died and up to four others wounded in two alleged LNA airstrikes on an oil tanker off the coast of Sirte, local media reported.

The casualties – all crew members, two of whom were hospitalised – reportedly occurred as the tanker was set on fire.
According to Japan Times, “The Anwaar Afriqya, a tanker carrying 30,000 metric tons of gas oil from Motor Oil Hellas’s refinery in Greece, was attacked while anchored off Sirte in central Libya, Rida Issa, the coast guard chief, said by phone. The airstrike caused a fire on the tanker that was later extinguished, the vessel’s second-in-command, Fakhri Mohammed, said.” The report went on to say that one person died and one was injured in the attack.

Almarsad, Alarabiya and Ajwa made no mention of a fatality but said that between 3-4 civilians were wounded in the fire.

According to a report by Akhbar Masr, “Libyan Air Force Chief of Staff Saqr al-Jaroushi said aircraft attacked the tanker Anwaar Afriqya registered in Libya, off Sirte port, on Sunday as it was unloading weapons.”

A report by Almarsad cited eye witness testimony, explaining that “a worker at the port said the tanker was attacked with a missile fired into the cockpit and crew rooms. ‘Then the aircraft attacked the ship with machine guns,’ he said, adding that there was a danger that the fuel would leak. ‘They attacked (the tanker) after we unloaded the first oil tank and we were preparing to unload the second,’ the worker said.”

A father and one or two of his daughters were reported killed as a result of an alleged GNC/Libya Dawn airstrike on Sirte.

Most sources claim that a father with his two daughters were killed in an airstrike on their family home. However, some sources reported that only one of his daughters died and they were in fact in their car.

Tajwara News reported: “The terrorist aeroplane which belongs to Libya Dawn targeted a house in Zaafran residential neighbourhood, killing a father and his daughters.”

Afrigate News posted on Twitter that the “Sirte hospital receives three killed by mistake by Libya Dawn plane in the Zaafran area.”

Rawadfree1 wrote: “Shelling by an aircraft in the Zaafran area of Sirte, shrapnel hitting a car causing its burning, the death of a father and his daughter and another girl wounded.”

Ean Libya published a similar take: “Military aircraft from Libya Dawn hit a car in the Zaafran area, which led to the death of father and daughter.”
