On Aug. 3, coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted three airstrikes using fighter, fighter-attack and remotely piloted aircraft. Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 16 airstrikes coordinated with the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter-attack, bomber and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets.

Coalition’s airstrikes continue to destroy and degrade ISIL tactical and combat equipment within the region.

“The Bayji airstrikes are a great example of directly supporting ISF in an urban fight that is hotly contested. In areas like Bayji, it is important to note that coalition forces have implemented significant mitigation measures within the targeting process and during the conduct of operations to reduce the potential of civilian casualties and collateral damage,” said Col. Michael Indovina, CJTF-OIR public affairs spokesman. “Our overall strategy has not changed: coalition airstrikes will provide maximum support to the defeat of Daesh.”

Nederlandse F-16’s in het Midden-Oosten zetten wapens in tegen vuurposities en bunkers van ISIS-strijders. Dat gebeurde in meer dan 10 missies. In Erbil begon een nieuwe lichting Peshmerga aan de Infantry Battle Course en in Bagdad startte een nieuwe ploeg met de commando-opleiding.

De danske F-16-fly, der er udsendt som bidrag til Operation Inherent Resolve, har siden seneste opdatering 28. juli fløjet 12 missioner og anvendt 14 bomber.

Missionerne, som de danske fly har deltaget i, har været offensive, og de danske fly har i den forløbne periode primært deltaget i missioner i Ninawa og Al Anbar provinserne. Målene for bomberne har været fjendtligt personel og bygninger anvendt af ISIL.

De danske fly har fløjet Close Air Support-missioner (CAS), hvor flyene er indsat som luftstøtte til styrker på landjorden. De danske fly har også gennemført Air Interdiction-missioner. Her gennemføres et specifikt angreb mod et på forhånd defineret mål, hvor flyene flyver direkte til målet, anvender bomber og flyver retur. Ved disse missioner har målene for bomberne været bygninger anvendt af ISIL.

På de missioner, hvor de danske F-16 ikke har anvendt våben, har de bidraget med overvågning og indhentning af efterretninger. På sådanne overvågningsmissioner er flyene dog altid klar til at anvende våben, hvis der er behov for det.

Siden første mission den 16. oktober 2014, har det danske bidrag i alt fløjet 452 missioner og anvendt 397 bomber. Alle de danske bomber er præcisionsstyrede, hvilket vil sige, at de styres mod deres mål ved hjælp af enten laser eller GPS.

Coalition airstrikes successfully destroyed a Daesh vehicle-borne improvised explosive device facility August 1, 2015 near Makhmur, Iraq.

In coordination with the Government of Iraq, Coalition forces will continue to seek out and deliberately target Daesh forces, equipment, and resources wherever they are found.

This facility was a critical ISIL asset that helped the terrorists produce numerous VBIEDs – the ISIL weapon of choice – which can be moved easily throughout Iraq and used against Iraqi Security Forces and the civilian population.

“These strikes, conducted in coordination with the Government of Iraq, will help reduce the ability of Daesh to utilize their weapon of choice – VBIEDs,” said Brig. Gen. Kevin Killea, CJTF-OIR Chief of Staff. “Daesh VBIEDs are responsible for many attacks against Iraqi Security Forces and atrocities committed against Iraqi civilians.”

Coalition forces conducted an airstrike today to successfully destroy an ISIL staging area facility near Mosul, Iraq.
“By destroying staging areas like this one, we diminish Daesh’s ability to conduct their terror operations in this region,” said Brig. Gen. Kevin Killea, CJTF, Chief of Staff. “Inevitably, these weapons and supplies find themselves in the hands of ISIL terrorists combating the ISF and terrorizing civilians.”

With Iraqi forces surrounding Ramadi, cutting off terrorist supply routes into the city, Reapers remained highly active in the surrounding area: on Friday 31 July, one of our aircraft helped coordinate a strike on an ISIL position by a coalition aircraft. The Reaper then spotted terrorists burying explosives under a railway line, and was able to direct a successful attack by the supporting coalition jet.

The Reaper also conducted two strikes with its own Hellfire missiles, destroying two vehicles at an ISIL-held compound.

On July 30, coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 24 airstrikes using fighter-attack, fighter and bomber aircraft. Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 17 airstrikes coordinated with the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter-attack, bomber and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets.

“Coalition forces struck multiple Daesh targets in the vicinity of the eastern Syria border to reduce the freedom of movement of Daesh,” said Brig. Gen. Kevin Killea, CJTF-OIR chief of staff. “These strikes will have a profound impact on the ability of Daesh in Syria to affect operations in Iraq, particularly in Ramadi. Denying Daesh the ability to use these targets severely reduces their efforts to destabilize the region. These airstrikes, combined with ground force activity throughout Iraq and northern Syria, are increasing the pressure on ISIL.”

The following day [July 29th 2015], Tornado GR4s patrolling in northern Iraq hit a terrorist mortar team with a Paveway.

The next RAF strike was on Tuesday 28 July, when a Reaper, once more supporting Iraqi forces in the western province of Anbar, spotted an ISIL armoured vehicle; it was destroyed by a direct hit from a Hellfire.

“Coalition forces continue to support ISF operations to isolate and degrade ISIL and set conditions for the liberation of Anbar Province,” said Col. Michael Indovina, CJTF-OIR Spokesman. “Coalition airstrikes will likelyincrease to a posture that adequately supports ISF strike requirements in and around the Anbar capital. Yesterday was the largest amount of airstrike support we have provided since the operation began. We will continue to support our Iraqi partners as they work to push ISIL out of Anbar Province and the rest of their country.”

Syria

• Near Al Hasakah, 10 airstrikes struck four ISIL large tactical units and five ISIL small tactical units and destroyed 15 ISIL fighting positions.
• Near Aleppo, one airstrike struck an ISIL mortar system and destroyed an ISIL vehicle.
• Near Kobani, two airstrikes struck two ISIL tactical units and destroyed an ISIL fighting position, an ISIL motorcycle and an ISIL vehicle.

Iraq

• Near Al Huwayjah, one airstrike destroyed an ISIL bunker.
• Near Ar Rutbah, one airstrike destroyed an ISIL checkpoint.
• Near Habbaniyah, one airstrike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL structure.

On 26 July 2015, while taking part in coalition operations in support of Iraqi security forces, two CF-18 Hornets successfully struck two separate ISIS fighting positions, one in Sinjar and another in Tal Afar, using precision guided munitions.

July 26th 2015 – On July 25, coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 13 airstrikes using fighter, bomber, attack and remotely piloted aircraft. Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 20 airstrikes coordinated with the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter-attack and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets.

“Nearly all of the deliberate airstrikes against ISIL targets are acquired and validated via the Coalition’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets,” said Brig. Gen. Kevin Killea, CJTF-OIR chief of staff. “The Coalition’s air campaign, train and equip, and advise & assist missions are providing crucial support to ISF at the operational level.”

July 25th 2015 – On July 24, coalition military forces continued to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted nine airstrikes using fighter, bomber and remotely piloted aircraft. Separately in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 22 airstrikes coordinated with the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter-attack, bomber and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets.

• Near Ramadi, five airstrikes struck three ISIL tactical units and destroyed three ISIL fighting positions, two ISIL armored personnel carriers, four ISIL mobility obstacles, an ISIL anti-aircraft artillery weapon, an ISIL heavy machine gun, three ISIL vehicles and an ISIL building.

• Near Sinjar, two airstrikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed two ISIL light machine guns, two ISIL fighting positions and an ISIL bunker.

• Near Tal Afar, two airstrikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL fighting position and an ISIL camera embedded berm.

July 25th 2015 – Coalition airstrikes conducted today successfully destroyed a Daesh vehicle-borne improvised explosive device facility in Fallujah, Iraq. In coordination with the Government of Iraq, Coalition forces will continue to seek out and deliberately target Daesh forces, equipment, and resources wherever they are found.

This facility was a critical ISIL asset that helped the terrorists produce numerous VBIEDs –the ISIL weapon of choice –which can be moved easily throughout Iraq and used against Iraqi Security Forces and the civilian population.

“Although these strikes were not conducted in direct support of Iraqi ground forces, they were done in coordination with the Government of Iraq. By destroying VBIED factories like this one with deliberate air strikes, we take the weapon of choice out of the arsenal of Daesh,” said Brig. Gen. Kevin Killea, CJTF-OIR Chief of Staff. “Daesh VBIEDs are responsible for many attacks against the ISF and atrocities committed against the civilian population.”

These strikes bolster freedom of movement for Iraqi Security Forces and increase protection for Iraqi civilians. These airstrikes are part of a broader effort by the Coalition to degrade and ultimately defeat Daesh terrorists in Iraq and Syria.

On 24 July 2015, while taking part in coalition operations in support of Iraqi security forces, two CF-18 Hornets successfully struck an ISIS fighting position northwest of Mosul using precision guided munitions.

On Friday 24 July, a Reaper was again patrolling over western Iraq, providing overwatch for Iraqi troops. The aircraft’s crew spotted an anti-aircraft gun being used by ISIL to fire on the Iraqi forces, and promptly destroyed the gun with a Hellfire. A second Hellfire accounted for a machine-gun position.

The Reaper also helped coordinate a series of successful air strikes by several coalition jets, which destroyed two terrorist positions as well as a pair of armoured personnel carriers, one of which appeared to have been converted into a large car-bomb.
