Airwars assessment

Two civilians were allegedly killed by a GNA or Turkish airstrike near Abu Al Ghurab.

The LNA media center said: “Two ambulances have been attacked, and two people inside died following a Turkish drone strike at 10 am, on Wednesday, 04/29/2020
The attack occurred in the Abu Al Ghurab area, inside the petrol station.”

Libya 24 published a statement by the GNA: “The [GNA] military media announced on Wednesday, targeting three cars carrying ammunition belonging to what it described as Haftar forces, in reference to the army, through air force raids in the Abu Al Ghurab area south of Mizda, confirming the fall of those wounded.”

Mohammed Abo al Qassem said that all of those in the car died after being wounded.

The incident occured at approximately 10:00 am local time.

Up to five civilians were killed and two others injured in an alleged GNA or Turkish drone attack on a civilian truck carrying boxes of bees in the Al-Ghudwiyah area near the entrance of Ra’s at Tabal, Nasmah, Libya on April 28th, 2020. The local sources also said the two injured civilians are in critical conditions in the hospital.

Tk Yahrouq Kl shy posted that “A drone bombed a truck carrying boxes of bees in Nasmah area, leading to the death of four civilians.”

Tarhouna 24 identified the four victims as Hafez Omar Al-Sudani, Mohamed Ambeya Al-Sudani, Issam Muhammad Muhammad al-Rikabi and Mustafa Saad.

218TV raised the death toll to five saying that five civilians were killed in the attack including migrant workers, and described one of the victims Hafez Omar Al-Sudani as “director of the Nasmah municipality’s human resources department.”

Burkan Al Ghadab reported from the Libyan Army Spokesman that “The Libyan air force carried out two combat strikes earlier, targeting two trucks transporting logistical equipment and ammunition in the Nasmah area, which was on its way to supply the Haftar terrorist militia south of the capital Tripoli.”

Libya Review said the attack was done by Turkish forces on a food truck near Bani Walid.

Airwars assessment

One civilian was killed and a child was injured in alleged LNA forces shelling with BM-21 Grad missiles on Shurfat Al Malaha area near Maitika International Airport on January 3rd, 2020 according to local sources.

The killed man was identified as Jumaa Al Qabaili and the injured child who was admitted to hospital was identified as Muhaimin Muhammad Qnedi.

Libya Al Ahrar reported that the shelling with Grad rockets on Shurfet Al Milaha  targeted nine houses and a school causing injuries including children.

Hona Souq Al-Khmies said: “A rocket fell a short time ago on the house of rented by a family in Shurfat Al Malaha, behind Mitiga.”

The Libya Observer tweeted “Shurfat Al-Malaha residential area near Mitiga Airport came under intense rocket attacks by warlord Khalifa Haftar’s armed groups last night leaving one person dead and causing damage to people’s houses.”

According to local sources, three random mortar shells landed on Ben Ashour area in Tripoli, Libya on January 2nd, 2020. One of the mortars fell on the house of Quraira Ammar family causing injuries among civilians, while the other two fell on Al Sikka road.

According to Africa Gate, civilians were warned not to gather in the areas that were shelled fearing any shelling renewal or un-exploded mortar shells.

In the first incident of 2020, three civilians were reported killed and five others injured after an alleged LNA or UAE airstrike on a blacksmith store in Al Kanisa street in Al Swani, Tripoli, Libya on January 1st, 2020, according to local sources. A child was also wounded after the missile hit her house near the store.

Souq Al Khamis posted on their Facebook page that the shop’s owner and his son were killed in the attack, in addition to a third person who was killed when his van was directly targeted with the shelling.

In addition to the blacksmith store, a farm and an iron store house were reportedly targeted.

The shelling also caused damage to the neighbouring buildings.

One child (14) and a young man (18) were injured in alleged Libyan National Army shelling on Wali Al Ahed street in Abo Salim area of Tripoli on December 30th, 2019, according to local sources.

Tk Yahrouq Kul Shy posted on Facebook that “a random shell landed in Wali Al Ahed street in front of the Omar Bin Al Khattab mosque” and reported civilian casualties, but did not state how many civilians allegedly died.

Burkan Al Ghadab Operation reported that the militia Haftar was responsible for the shelling, which “caused injuries to a number of the residents of the region according to the initial tally in addition to damage to the homes and cars of citizens”.

In another Facebook post, Burkan Al Ghadab Operation identified Abdel Rahman Suleiman Fakkini (18) as one of the injured. The young man was severly injured by shrapnel in his head and was transferred to a hospital.

The mayor of Abu Salim, Abdul Rahman Al Hamedi, confirmed that a 14-year-old child was also injured in the incident.

Tk Yahrouq Kul Shy posted photos of the damaged house of Ali Al Suhairi, but stated that there no civilian harm occured in the family home.
