Airwars assessment

At least one woman was killed and one to five others, including a child, were injured in alleged Russian or regime strikes on a home and medical facility in Marayan on September 8, 2021.

According to @HadiAlabdallah, Russian airstrikes hit Marian Medical Center, the last medical center in Jabal Al-Zawiya, and killed one woman and seriously wounded a child. @thawrat111 reported that the child had to have his hand amputated due to the severity of the injury.

@Gurbtwatan provided the name of the woman that was killed: Fatima Khatib.

Syrian Civil Defense added that the woman killed was the mother of the child that was injured and that the damage to the clinic was so extensive that the clinic was no longer able to serve patients.

@YusufAd76532779 reported that both the woman and her child were killed, and others were wounded in the strikes.

@BassamJaara identified Fatima as being the wife of the director of the medical center and a post by Mar`aian added that she was the “daughter of the martyr Khaled Al-Dadoush.”

The “Syrian Media Association” said in a statement: “With great sadness and sorrow, we received, today, Wednesday, September 8, 2021, the news of the death of the mother of our colleague “Qasim Khatib”, a member of the association, in artillery shelling by the Russian forces that targeted their house and a medical point in Marian village

Activist Mustafa Al-Mohammed told Alaraby News that the Russian warplanes bombed separate areas in Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern countryside of Idlib, targeting a medical point and civilian homes in Marayan district, killing a woman and wounding five others with varying degrees.

Marian Medical Center, which was destroyed in the strike, served over 50,000 civilians living in Jabal al-Zawiya and was the only medical clinic in this area, providing medical care to around 150 patients a day.

The Syria Response Coordinators Team published a picture of the targeted medical point and commented on it: “This is what remains of the only medical point in the town of Marayan, which provides the simplest services to the residents of the villages and towns of Jabal Al-Zawiya in the southern countryside of Idlib.”

Sources were conflicted as to whether the regime or Russia or both forces were responsible for the strikes. Additionally, a few sources, including Anadolu Agency, mentioned that militias tied to Iran were also involved. Many of sources identified Krasnopol laser guided shells as being used in the attack and Zaman Al Wasl reported that more than 10 shells were used.

The incident occured in the morning.

Airwars assessment

A least one civilian, a child, was killed and up to five others, including a woman, were injured in alleged regime or Russian strikes on the town of Al Kafir on September 19, 2021.

Firas Al-Khalifa, the media official of the Syrian Civil Defense in Idlib, told Al-Araby News that a 15-year-old boy was killed, and a woman was injured as a result of the Syrian regime’s artillery shelling on the town of Kafir.

Syrian Network for Human Rights published the name of the child killed: Abdul Hadi Salman.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also identified a child as being killed in the strikes but put the number of civilians injured at five. Various other sources reported that “others” were wounded or “a number” of wounded resulted from the strikes but did not identify how many.

The Syria TV correspondent said that the Syrian Civil Defense teams (White Helmets) transported the body of the child and treated the victim to the hospital for treatment, and also secured the targeted area.

The majority of sources attributed the shelling to the Syrian regime, with Nedaa Post identifying 7 rocket launchers belonging to regime forces stationed near the town of Gorin as being the source of the shelling. Airwars assessment

At least one person was killed and others were wounded in alleged Russian airstrikes on Kansafra on September 22, 2021. Sources were conflicted as to whether the man killed was a militant or civilian.

According to @ShahbaPress, a civilian was killed and another was wounded in Russian airstrikes on Kansafra.

“Zaman Al-Wasl” reporter said that “two Russian Sukhoi-35 warplanes launched 8 air strikes using high-explosive missiles, targeting the vicinity of the town of “Kansafra”, south of Idlib governorate, which led to the death of one person, in addition to the raids causing extensive damage to the lands. agricultural property of civilians.”

Local sources told Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that “civilians” were injured but did not specify how many. However, they also reported that a member of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Shamwas killed in the strikes and @jamlyyyyy_identified raids as being carried out on the gatherings and headquarters of militants.

Baladi News added that the civilians were wounded to varying degrees and were transferred to medical points in the area.
