On New Years Day, three to four civilians, three children and a woman, were allegedly killed and ten others, including six children, were allegedly injured, by Russian air strikes just after midnight. The incident was reported to have taken place in the early hours of January 1st 2022 at 2.30am, in the Al-Nahr Al-Abyad area near the city of Jisr Al-Shughour, in the western countryside of Idlib by Russian forces.

Nesrin Na’san al Na’san, aged two, and her mother, Fatimah Hussein al Waisi, aged 28, and Mariam Basel Al Aboud, aged seven, were identifed as killed by the Syrian Network for Human Rights.  Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the death of another child, a boy, who succumbed to his injuries later in the day on January 1st 2022 and @mahmoudalbakor1 reported that all of the deceased were from the same family.

The names of those injured, according to @Almohrar1, were: Azzo Naasan, aged three, Mohammed Naasan Naasan, aged eight months, Naasan Ahmed Naasan, aged 26, Abdul Rahman Ammar Al Aboud, Yasser Ammar Al Aboud, Obaid Yasser Al Aboud, Yahya Ammar Al Aboud, Ammar Obaid Al Aboud, and Hala Fawaz Al-Nayef.

The Syrian Civil Defense reported that they rescued the six injured and retrieved the three deceased bodies from under the rubble.  One of their volunteers, Alaa Hawash, said “when we got to the placee, there was a stench of blood and corpses and people were screaming and a fire was burning. There was an injured woman standing over the destruction who told me, with tears and blood on her face, my daughter is here… my daughter is here.  We started work immediately and the girl’s face appeared from the rubble, here I remembered my daughter, Alaa Willie, who is her age, when there was an attack on my house two years ago.”

According to the Syrian Civil Defense, the attack was targeted on a house and tents housing displaced people.  Those deceased and injured were reportedly members of three displaced families from the village of Rajm Amirat in Jabal al Hoss in the southern countryside of Aleppo.
