Up to 26 civilians – 23 of whom were named – died and dozens more were wounded in an alleged Russian or Assad regime airstrikes on a popular market in Kafir Nabil, according to sources on the ground.
Reports were conflicted as to whether this was the work of Russia or the regime. Aljazeera pointed to the Russia, putting the death toll at 15 including women and children.
But Zaitonmag, also blaming Russia, joined many sources in putting the death toll at 25.
Osman AL-Masri didn;t identify the culprit but said that the strikes had killed 26 civilians.In a Baladi video witnesses say the following:
At 1:10: “A warplane came and we were in the shop and it started bombarding us My brother and nephew were killed. Houses were destroyed.
At 2:00: “I was coming back from school when I saw a barrel falling down, so we ducked down on top of each other. Fire was all over the place, and a whole family was killed. There were many martyrs.”
However, other sources including Sdusyria and the Syrian Network for Human Rights attributed the strikes to the regime. The Syrian Network put the death toll at 26 including six children and two women.
According to Idlib Media Centre, there were “six strikes from regime warplanes killing at least eight civilians”.
The Shaam News Network blamed both Russia and Assad.
