One to five civilians were reported killed by airstrikes on Ma’ar Shureen, Idlib, on June 10th.

Both Shahba Press and Idlib Plus stated that of those initially killed, two were children, and one was a woman, and Syrian Network for Human Rights reported the death of “at least three civilians (a child, an unborn baby and a woman).” Syrian Observatory for Human Rights allege the death of two women, and Smart News reported the death of only one woman.

Furthermore, Idlib Plus claimed that 47 civilians were injured in the attack, while Edlib Media Center initially citied this figure to be 30. The destruction of civilian homes was also noted in the reporting of this incident.

On August 4th, Syrian Network for Human Rights reported the death of another child, who had succumbed to his injuries sustained on June 10th. According to this source, the child killed – “Zakariya Yahia al Ghawi” – had disabilities.

While three sources named Russia as the belligerent responsible for the attack, two attributed the strike to the Syrian regime, and three to both of these. Meanwhile, six other sources did not positively attribute blame.

Although specifically naming Russia in discussion of June 10th airstrikes on Ma’ar Shureen, Shaam News wrote that “Russian warplanes and Assad’s Air Force continued air raids on the towns and villages of rural Idlib, from midnight until Monday morning, resulting in many civilian casualties.”
