France reports that 235 strikes have been carried out since October 17th 2016 – 21% of the strikes since the beginning of the French intervention in September 2014. Since September 19th 2014, there have been 6,016 air sorties and 1,122 strikes destroying 1,837 ISIL targets.

OPÉRATION CHAMMAL

Les forces se réarticulent et poursuivent une phase de sécurisation interservices afin de favoriser un retour de la gouvernance dans ce secteur. Les armées françaises ont participé à ce succès à plusieurs titres.

Pilier aérien

Avec le pilier aérien, les frappes ont permis méthodiquement de dégrader les capacités de Daech avant l’offensive en frappant les centres de commandement, les usines de production d’IED, les positions de contrôle de zone ou de défense, les lignes logistiques. Pendant l’offensive, la précision et la diversité de nos armements, la réactivité de nos chaînes de décision ont permis d’agir, dans le respect de nos règles d’engagement national, jusqu’au cœur de la ville.

235 frappes françaises ont été réalisées depuis le 17 octobre 2016, soit, en trois mois et demi, 21% des frappes depuis le début de l’intervention française en septembre 2014. Au bilan pour l’Irak, avec 1 121 frappes aériennes, les armées françaises ont réalisé 10,13 % du total de la coalition.

Les frappes d’artillerie ont appuyé les FSI sur l’avant lors de la montée vers Mossoul, protégé les points d’appui coalisés comme la base de Q-West, cassé les contre-attaques contre les FSI. 343 missions ont ainsi été réalisées dont 97 depuis FF.

Avec le pilier formation, les militaires de la TF Narvik forment, depuis mars 2015, les soldats de l’ICTS (Iraki Counter Terrorism Service), qui sont le fer de lance des forces de sécurité irakiennes. En sus de cette formation initiale, ces soldats reviennent pour s’entraîner, conforter leurs savoir-faire, se remettre à niveau ou acquérir de nouvelles techniques.

Le retour d’expérience des cadres de l’ICTS sur les combats menés permet également de mettre à jour les formations prodiguées, telles que la reconnaissance d’itinéraire, le secourisme au combat, la formation CIED, les procédés tactiques en véhicule en zone urbaine et l’entraînement tactique des unités de reconnaissance. Un programme d’aguerrissement des soldats de l’ICTS au travers de l’organisation de diverses activités physiques ou une formation de tireurs d’élite ont également été réalisés.

La France a également participé à la réalisation d’infrastructures d’entraînement répondant à des besoins opérationnels immédiats de l’ICTS : salle d’instruction sur les techniques de confection d’IED, bâtiment d’entraînement aux actions en zone urbaine.

Depuis le 1er février, Chammal a réalisé 33 sorties aériennes dont 28 de reconnaissance armée ou d’appui au sol, et 5 de recueil de renseignement. Les 3 frappes réalisées ont permis de détruire 5 objectifs. La TF Wagram a réalisé 23 missions de tirs en appui des forces irakiennes.

Depuis le 19 septembre 2014, 6 016 sorties aériennes ont été réalisées pour 1 122 frappes et 1 837 objectifs neutralisés. Le cap des 6 000 sorties a été franchi le 05 février, avec une frappe Rafale dans la région de Al Qaim visant des caches d’armes utilisées par Daech pour réapprovisionner les combattants au contact.

OPÉRATION CHAMMAL

En Syrie, Daech continue de défendre les territoires tenus même si l’étau se resserre peu à peu : Daech est assiégée dans la ville d’Al Bab, encerclée par les forces armées syriennes au sud et par les rebelles syriens soutenus par les forces turques au nord. Près de Raqqah, les forces démocratiques syriennes se trouvent désormais à 20km de la ville.

La coalition continue de fournir des appuis et de préparer l’offensive grâce à des frappes en profondeur. Ainsi, le 29 janvier, un Atlantique 2 et deux Rafale détectaient et frappaient un puits de pétrole clandestin proche de la ville de Deir-ez-Zor, réduisant ainsi les soutiens financiers illicites de l’organisation terroriste.

En Irak, les forces irakiennes consolident leurs positions dans la vallée de l’Euphrate, notamment au Nord d’Haditah, pour limiter l’infiltration de djihadistes en direction de Bagdad, qui subit environ une action terroriste par jour.

A Mossoul, Daech s’accroche mais perd du terrain régulièrement et ses capacités de contre-attaque s’amenuisent. Elle continue de défendre la ville de Tall Kayf, située immédiatement au Nord, regroupe ses combattants dans l’ouest de la ville et renforce ses positions défensives.
