CHAMMAL
SITUATION MILITAIRE DU THÉÂTRE
L’opération Chammal, volet français de l’Opération Inherent Resolve (OIR), poursuit sa mission de lutte contre Daech et continue à appuyer, en Syrie, les Forces Démocratiques Syriennes (FDS), et en Irak les Forces de Sécurité Irakiennes (FSI).
En Irak, dans le Nord Est syrien et dans la Moyenne Vallée de l’Euphrate, la situation sécuritaire est stable. Les FSI comme les FDS y poursuivent leurs différentes opérations de ratissage et de sécurisation contre les cellules clandestines de Daech.
ACTIVITÉ DE LA FORCE
La France poursuit son engagement au sein du pilier « appui » de la coalition à travers la poursuite des opérations aériennes, et au sein du pilier « formation » au profit de l’armée irakienne.
Engagement de l’Atlantique 2 au Levant
Mi-juillet, l’avion de patrouille maritime Atlantique 2 s’est posé sur la piste de la base aérienne projetée au Levant. Après deux mois d’absence, les marins du ciel sont de retour sur le théâtre de l’opération Chammal. Souvent dédié aux missions aéromaritimes, dont la principale est la lutte anti-sous-marine, cet avion de patrouille maritime est pleinement adapté aux missions ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance). L’objectif de ces missions sur ce théâtre est de détecter et d’identifier les activités des combattants de Daech, ainsi que leurs lieux de passage ou de rassemblement.
Le précédent mandat de l’Atlantique 2 s’était illustré par ses actions de renseignement dans cette lutte contre Daech en totalisant 200 heures de vol et plus de 23 missions opérationnelles.

Sorties air hebdomadaires (bilan du 17 au 23 juillet inclus)
Les aéronefs français basés en Jordanie et aux Émirats arabes unis poursuivent ainsi leurs actions contre Daech, au sein de la Coalition. Cette semaine, les Rafale de l’opération Chammal ont réalisé 17 sorties aériennes depuis la Base aérienne projetée (BAP) au Levant.
FORMATION DES PILOTES DE BLINDES DES FORCES SPECIALES
Cet été, dans le Grand Bagdad, en Irak, les futurs commandos de l’Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service (ICTS) se sont rendus sur un site d’entraînement pour être formés par trois instructeurs irakiens, eux-mêmes conseillés par un instructeur de la Task Force Narvik. Ce site, dédié aux actions en zone urbaine pour travailler les convois tactiques, a permis à une trentaine de stagiaires de montrer leurs acquis dans le déplacement en véhicules blindés.
Durant huit semaines, tous les détails d’un mouvement tactique sous blindage ont été abordés. La préparation des véhicules et des itinéraires, en campagne, en plaine, dans le désert ou en zone urbaine, implique de multiples facteurs, très divers selon les contextes d’engagement. Il en est de même pour la manière d’utiliser son arme de bord pour participer à la sécurisation à 360° d’une zone, afin d’y faire débarquer des commandos.
Pendant deux mois, avec l’appui des Français, les instructeurs irakiens ont enseigné l’ensemble de ces aspects aux futurs membres des forces spéciales.

Les échanges entre les instructeurs irakiens et français ont contribué à une formation de qualité. Grâce à une connaissance renforcée du terrain, des missions et des matériels des instructeurs irakiens et valorisée par les apports des instructeurs français, les futurs commandos de l’ICTS sont prêts à réaliser leurs futures opérations spéciales contre Daech dans les meilleures conditions.
